House of Waris for Forevermark – Part II

I was delighted when I heard the news that House of Waris designer Waris Ahluwalia was teaming up with Forevermark again for a collection, and I’ve got a sneak peek of the final result for you today.

Ahluwalia and Forevermark first collaborated in 2012 on a single piece called ‘Light Emanating from the Heart’, which is a pendant necklace featuring a 14.58 carat oval diamond at the center. It was worn by actress Samantha Barks to the 2013 Academy Awards and I recall thinking at the time how unusual it was for the red carpet (big points for that), but also what a great necklace it was all things considered.

This time around, it is a 13 piece collection that came together after Ahluwalia took a journey in Spring 2013 to South Africa and Botswana to explore the diamond mining process. The three design themes are inspired by this trip, while keeping the exotic-old-world-meets-new aesthetic that the House of Waris is known for. A star-studded party was held at The Explorers Club in New York City on Monday to celebrate the launch and the rest of the collection will be revealed on the Forevermark website at the end of the month.

Forevermark x Gareth Pugh

Forevermark Gareth Pugh

Edgy fashion designer Gareth Pugh has teamed up with Forevermark to create his first piece of fine jewelry. After having visited African diamond mines and seeing the diamond process from beginning to end, he employed the latest CAD technology to create a characteristically armor-like piece that features Forevermark diamonds set in stainless steel. Is it a necklace? Is it a cuff? I don’t know and no one saying, but either way it’s pretty cool.

UPDATE: It’s a mighty big necklace!

Phenomena: De Beers Latest Collection

'Crest' bracelet.

‘Crest’ bracelet.

The power and beauty of water in nature has served as the inspiration for the latest collection from De Beers called Phenomena. The all white metal and white diamond pieces are grouped into five styles, Crest, Glacier, Stream, Reef and Frost, for a total of 20 pieces. If I had to pick just one as a favorite (ugh, so difficult) it would be the Crest bracelet pictured above because I love the energy and movement of the design. Or maybe I just still have waves on my mind…
