Gina Lollobrigida, one of the most beautiful and iconic actresses of the 20th century, is auctioning some of her famed Bulgari jewelry at Sotheby’s Magnifcent Jewels and Noble Jewels auction in Geneva on May 14. 23 pieces from the 50’s and 60’s will be offered by the 85-year-old collector, many of which were worn during key moments of her career and all purchased by her.
Lollobrigida, a long-time philanthropist, is focusing on sculpture now and felt the time was right to part with the pieces. Proceeds from the auction are to support stem cell research and highlights from the collection will visit Hong Kong, London, New York and Rome ahead of the sale.
There is a link to this video buried in a post about New York Fashion Week Day 2, but I wanted to highlight it because it’s so good. If you ever wanted to know what an exceptional jewelry film looks like, watch this. You get a great look at the jewelry and feel for the collection, the musical selection is perfect; it’s just plain fun to watch. Bravo, Rebecca Minkoff (and blogger Leandra Medine aka The Man Repeller).
She also teamed up with Japanese pearl company TASAKI for a collaboration. The collection is mostly her signature sliced up pearls style, with classic designs as well as some new additions.
